These limited edition pieces are made with rare vintage lucite & acrylic beads sourced from around the world (Japan, USA, Germany, Italy etc...), with some dating back as far as the 1950s.
Lucite was popularised in the 1930s as an alternative to Bakelite and became extremely popular in the 1950s when it started being used in costume jewellery. In addition to the gorgeous colours and unusual shapes, the great thing about Lucite is that although it is more substantial than other plastic beads, it is very light in general. As a result, even though lucite is often cut in chunky pieces, those lovely beads won’t weigh down a necklace made entirely of it.
